Ways to Give

By Mail
Send your cash or check to:
Lexington Catholic High School
Attn: Advancement Office
2250 Clays Mill Road
Lexington, KY 40503

Cash Gift
Your gift of cash in the form of a check provides immediate tax savings for you and instant revenue for the High School. This is the most common way donors support Lexington Catholic High School.

Credit Card Gift (Visa, Master Card)
Call LCHS (859) 277-7183 ext. 253 to make a donation via your credit card. This type of donation can be made anytime and is a good way to donate monthly.

Bank Draft
You may wish to have an amount withdrawn from your bank account monthly. This is an excellent way to donate without having the hassle of writing a monthly check.

Charitable Gift Annuity
You make an irrevocable gift of cash or securities in the name of Lexington Catholic to the Diocese, and the Diocese agrees to pay you a guaranteed percentage of the asset annually for life. A gift annuity can also have more than one income beneficiary. The rate of return on a gift annuity is determined by the donor's age.

Charitable Remainder Trust
You contribute assets, such as securities, while retaining the income for yourself, or others, for life. A remainder gift permits you to take an income tax deduction for a portion of the value of your gift. Your gift will be credited for the fair market value of the contributed assets.

Corporate Matching Funds
Many companies offer matching funds to their employees who make gifts to qualified 501C organizations. This can allow donors to multiply their gift and provide further support to the school. Contact your human resource department to learn about your company's matching program.

Gifts by Will (Bequest)
This is the most common form of planned giving. A gift is given to the High School by provisions made in the donor's will designating a dollar amount or percentage of the estate. Bequests to Lexington Catholic High School are free from federal estate tax and the estate and inheritance taxes of most states. Bequests should be drawn and executed with an attorney's advice.

Life Insurance/Retirement Fund
You may assign Lexington Catholic High School as beneficiary, co-beneficiary or a secondary, remainder of residual beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement fund. Annual Life insurance dividends also may be assigned to the school. When Lexington Catholic is named as owner of a policy, the cash value of the policy may be deducted on your income tax return.

Noble Legacy Society
The Noble Legacy Society honors individuals who, through their planned and estate gifts, have made a significant commitment to Lexington Catholic High School. The Society expresses our abiding gratitude for those persons who endorse its heritage and traditions and who have provided philanthropic support to ensure that generations to come will enjoy the benefits of a Lexington Catholic High School education.

Established in 2003, the Noble Legacy Society provides a way to recognize our special benefactors who have helped to secure the future of this institution by the thoughtful inclusion of Lexington Catholic High School in their financial planning. The Noble Legacy Society allows Lexington Catholic to convey our heartfelt and everlasting gratitude to planned and deferred donors before the gift is actually realized. We are not only grateful to them for their vision in providing for the future needs of Lexington Catholic High School, but also for their leadership.

These types of gifts leave a lasting legacy for the individual. All Memorial and Honorarium gifts are published in the Annual Report in our special Tribute section each year.

If you would like to give a gift to Lexington Catholic and wish to do so in Memory or Honor of someone, please contact the Advancement Office at (859) 277-7183, or simply make a note in the memo section of your gift check and we will make sure it is properly listed.

Property Donation
Gifts of property are carefully considered and, if acceptable, will be receipted at value after an appraisal is conducted.

Securities Donation
Giving stock electronically:

To transfer stock to Lexington Catholic High School, via DTC (Depository Trust Company), please use the following:

                                                DTC No. #5198

LCHS Merrill Lynch Account No. #545 04268

Even though this is electronically transferred, a letter of authorization is required.

Giving the certificate:

  1. If your certificate is in the name of Lexington Catholic High School, the only paperwork required with the certificate is a letter of authorization from you indicating your intention to make the gift to LCHS.
  2. If the certificate is in your name, you will need to sign the back of the certificate(s) exactly as the name is written on the front of the certificate or on a separate stock power.  Either way, your signature must be guaranteed by your local bank or brokerage firm.
  3. A letter of authorization is a must, again, indicating your intention to make the gift to Lexington Catholic High School.  If the certificate has tow or more names on the front, an authorization letter must also have those two or more names and signatures.
  4. A Signed certificate is the same as cash.  Therefore, it is suggested that you send the unsigned certificate by certified mail in one envelope and the signed stock power and letter of authorization in another envelop.
