Suzann Daniel Ficco and her husband, Ernie, celebrated

their 50th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2009.

Corinne Crutcher Quadland graduated from UK in 1965

and went to work for Pennyroyal Girl Scout Council in

Owensboro and later moved to Pocatello, ID to attend

graduate school at Idaho State University. She recently

saw the publication of her new book, Know What Your

Child Knows, for parents of elementary school children

especially in special education programs. Currently,

Corinne is mostly retired, but still keeping her "fi ngers in

the pie" of special education as a part time special education

teacher at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Lexington.

Joyce Langendorf Willett-Morris was surprised with a

60th birthday party hosted by her sister Jean Langendorf

('69) Saturday, October 10, 2009, in Austin Texas at Joyce's

daughter's home. Joyce was defi nitely surprised to see her

friends she has known since Christ the King elementary

Muri Giurgevich is preparing for matriculation toward

a Doctoral degree after she retires from her 40 plus year

career as a social worker/health educator/psychotherapist.

Beth Suetholz Lawrence has been named Executive

Vice President of Ad Sales and Media Solutions for The

Weather Channel Companies. She is based in the New

York sales offi ce and has overall responsibility for sales,

sales operations and media solutions for The Weather

Channel Network and The Weather Channel Interactive,

including weather.com and The Weather Channel mobile.

Previously, she was vice president of sales at Yahoo!

and prior to that she held a series of sales management

positions with AOL Time Warner.

Brian P. Hale is the director of the Offi ce of Public Affairs

at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He

oversees a team of communications professionals who

handle press inquiries, develop and distribute news

releases and provide writing and multimedia services.

Mr. Hale previously served in the National Press Offi ce

in the Offi ce of Public Affairs at the Federal Bureau of

Investigation (FBI) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Hale is a

member of the National Press Club and the Honorable

Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Tiffany Sirkle has relocated back to the USA after

completing a work assignment at Munich Reinsurance in

Munich, Germany. She has also completed Italian studies

in Rome, Italy.

Jennifer Lovell Duncan and her husband, Eric, would

like to announce the birth of their daughter. Lauren

"Miller" Duncan was born on May 26, 2009, and was 10lbs

4oz and 22in. She has a half brother Alex, 16 and a sister

Mason, 5.

Jennifer Kelley Wilder and her husband, David, are

currently living in Japan with their two young sons.

David is an offi cer in the Air Force. They are having a

great time touring that part of the world.

Ryan Hardy was featured in the November 2009 edition

of Esquire magazine. The magazine highlighted his

restaurant, "Ajax Tavern," in Aspen, CO as "another 15

places not to miss; and the dishes that set them apart."

Ryan's dish, "Colorado Lamb Bolognese," is what earned

him this distinguished recognition.

Amy Nickels Morgan and Jack Morgan were married

April 8, 2006. Their son, Henry Thomas Morgan, was

born on August 15, 2008, and they live in Lexington.

Tatum Elam Park and Drew Park welcomed their

daughter, Reagan McKenzie Park, on September 10, 2009.

They are living in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jonathan Kincheloe (LCHS Business Teacher and

Assistant Girls' Soccer Coach) plays soccer for the

Louisville Lightning. PASL-PRO announced the winners

of their 2009-2010 Awards in March 2010. Jonathan, a

standout defender made the All-League Second Team.

Angie Beavin is working for WYMT-TV, Gray Television,

Inc. as a reporter. She began her new job on June 1, 2009,

and is living in Hazard, Kentucky.

Trevor L. Clark is currently a senior at the US Coast

Guard Academy fi nishing his degree in civil engineering.

He is looking forward to graduation and commissioning in

May 2010 and being assigned to his first Coast Guard cutter.

Jordan Smart plays basketball for Vanderbilt University.

He made the SEC Honor Roll for 2009-10 and the Dean's

List for Fall 2009. His team went to the NCAA First Round

in San Jose, California in March 2010. He is majoring in

English and is planning on attending Law School.

Alex Atkins will be attending University of Tennessee

at Martin on a women's equestrian scholarship as a hunt

seat rider.

Class of '36

John Anthony Stallard, 89, died Mon, Oct 5, 2009. A

Lexington native, he was a son of the late William and

Anna Butler Stallard. He was preceded in death by his

wife, Nettie Sue Tatman Stallard and a daughter, Mary

Jo Arvin. Surviving are his children, J. Michael (Pam)

Stallard, Flagstaff, AZ, W. Patrick Stallard, Louisville,

Gerald L. (Becky) Stallard, Ft. Worth, TX, and Catherine

"Cam" Stallard, Lexington, and 7 grandchildren and 7

great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae Scully Wallace, 91, widow of J.B. "Bernie"

Wallace Jr, died Wed, March 17, 2010. Born in Lexington,

she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Henry

Scully. She is survived by her daughters, Sally Stevens,

Polly Farley, both of Lexington and Janie (Mark) Szabad,

West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Ryan (Casie) Stevens

and Erin Stevens, both of Lexington; and great grandchild,

Ellie Stevens. She was preceded in death by her brother,

James Edward Scully and sister, Agnes Scully Fister.

Class of '40

Patricia Thornton Riddell, 87, widow of Robert Riddell,

died on Nov 16, 2009. She was the daughter of the late

Charles and Clara Thornton. Survivors are her brother

Chuck (Mary Lou) Thornton; her 11 children: Mike (Fran)

Riddell, Pat (Donna) Riddell, Joe (Marcy) Riddell, Tim

Riddell, Dan (Martha) Riddell, David (Ada) Riddell,

Julie (Bill) Hostetler, Charles (Pam) Riddell; Susan (Greg)

Mason, Mary (Dave) Tyler, Anne (Keller) Norton; sistersin-

law Margaret Frazer and Geraldine Atherton; 24

grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Her children want

to express heartfelt gratitude and love for their brother,

Tim. Because of his unrelenting and selfl ess care of their

mother, she was able to live peacefully in her own home

for the long duration of her illness.

Class of '43

Mary Theresa Kearney, 85, passed away peacefully

on Jan 3, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph

Hospital in Lexington. She was born on Nov 11, 1924

in Georgetown, KY to the late Michael William and

Margaret Rose O'Neil Kearney. She is survived by

her sisters Eileen Kearney True and Margaret (Peggy)

Kearney Kroboth, her sister-in-law Helen Kearney, all

of Lexington. She was preceded in death by her brother

Michael William Kearney. She will be dearly missed by

the families of her 12 nieces and nephews whom she

referred to as "her children" and 18 great-nieces and

nephews.

Class of '59

Roy E. Highland, 67, husband of Sheila Highland, Class

of '63, of Lexington, died Wed, Dec 30, 2009. He was

the son of the late William T. and Lyda Highland. Also

surviving are his children, Missy Highland, Roy (Carey)

Highland, Becky Arledge, Janet Wilson and Joseph P.

(Nicole) Highland; brothers, Jim and Leonard and 8

special grandchildren, Jamie, Wesley, Ben, Haleigh, Jacob,

Gabrielle, Sylvey and Hayden. A sister Martha preceded

him in death.

Class of '66

Ava Joan Staed, 61, died on Oct 24, 2009. She was a

member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She is survived by

her husband of 40 years, Jerry Staed; children, Kevin

(Amy), Kim, Nick, Chris, and Andy Staed; mother,

Patricia (Ben) Wasserman; three siblings, Barry (Doris)

Morgenroth, Dean Morgenroth, and Betty Carpenter; and

her grandchildren, Bryanna, James, Kierstin, Maurissa,

Jazzmine, Kylie, and Jacob.

Class of '68

Mark Edmond Morris, 59, passed away Thursday, Feb 25,

2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He

is the son of Dorothy Crowley and Robert Earl ("Shug")

Morris. He is survived by his daughter, Megan Morris;

his sister, Annearle Morris Collins; his niece, Marianne

Collins Patterson (Graydon); his nephews, Danny Collins

(Jenny) and Robbie Collins (Whitney); his grandniece

Katherine Patterson; his grandnephews Will Patterson

and Cooper, Michael, John Daniel and George Collins; his

former wife, Cynthia Austerman, and his beloved dog,

Bo. He was predeceased by his son, John Morris and his

brother, Robert E. Morris, Jr.

Class of '86

Michael Thomas Swerczek, 42, died March 27, 2010.

Michael was the son of Mary Ann and Thomas W.

Swerczek. In addition to his parents, Michael is survived

by his sister Anne Marie (Greg) Pitts; and brother,

Timothy Swerczek, both of Lexington. His many nieces

and nephews include Amber, Michelle, Rachel, Michael,

Annemarie and Mary-Therese Pitts, Hope and Thomas

Swerczek. Michael's family is forever grateful for the

exceptional and loving care he was given.

Steve Mott and John Spalding (both class of '87) have launched a new business venture, “Season Never Ends,” that publishes daily sports calendars. Their first product, a UK Basketball Calendar, is available now at their website,
www.ukcal.com, and at several stores around Lexington.

Daniel Swintosky is President of Marine Electric Co., Inc. At the age of 37, he is the leader of a $40 million corporation.  Daniel is the youngest of 10 children and has always been competitive.  He is a former basketball player, not only at LCHS but at Transylvania University.  He also played professionally in Germany for over a year.  Upon returning to the United States, his future father-in-law offered him a job as a truck driver at Marine Electric and he took it. He has worked his way up to the presidency of the company, one of Louisville's largest electrical contractors and possibly one of the largest in Kentucky.  Daniel has been married to Ann Wirth Swintosky since 1999. Mark Keiner married Kate Robben in 2002. They had a son, James Anthony, in 2007. They are living in Union, Kentucky.

Lauren Huston and Jacob Gonzalez were married Saturday May 9, 2009 on Jacob's mother's farm in Midway, KY.  It was an outdoor ceremony and the weather was perfect.  They live in downtown Lexington.  Jacob is a property supervisor at Winterwood, Inc. and Lauren is an auditor at the accounting firm Miller, Mayer, Sullivan and Stevens.

Travis Humkey has been promoted to Captain with the US Army.  Travis is part of the 101st from Ft. Campbell presently deployed to Iraq.

Katie Humkey Rudolph graduated with honors from Murray State University, on May 10, 2008, with a Masters in Communication Disorders.  Katie received the Murray State Clinician of the Year award.  She is employed as a Speech Pathologist at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, where she & her husband, Chad, reside.

Annalee Elizabeth Riegger and Matthew Derek Burton (both class of '03) were married on July 19, 2008, at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington, Ky.  Father Norman Fischer presided over the ceremony.  Annalee is a third year pharmacy student at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and will graduate with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2011.  Matthew is currently employed as an internal auditor for Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati.

Greg Humkey graduated from Murray State University on May 10, 2008, with a BS in Business.  Greg has joined Employee Benefit Associates in Lexington as an agent.

Jordan Mack graduated in May 2008 from the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Economics. His anticipated graduation from Nuclear Power School will be December 2009 at which time he will be assigned to a nuclear powered submarine. Jordan continues to enjoy the single life!

Brandon Keith Smith
was stationed in Afghanistan through summer 09 at Camp Blessing, and his MOS (job) in the Army Reserves in Psychological Operations Specialist. Brandon goes out and speaks to community leaders one on one, asks them what they’ve seen, heard, what they need, etc. He then takes any information gathered from these interviews/meetings and creates product from it (leaflets, newspapers, tv ads, radio broadcasts, etc). The ultimate goal is to change the public’s attitude toward us and help us, help them. If you would like to contact Brandon, please email him at

Tyler Hinkel was one of only 9 players selected to the 2008 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) inaugural football All Sportsmanship Team.  The selection took place on December 3, 2008. The SCAC is placing a special emphasis on sportsmanship this year. Tyler also received the 2009 Fred E. Arnicar Award at Centre College in May.  The award is given to a senior football player who has shown high moral character and outstanding ability and sportsmanship during his four years.

Joseph H. King as a senior at Miami University won 3rd place in the American Council of Teachers of Russian National Post-Secondary Russian Essay Contest.  King, who is an international studies major specializing in Russian, East Europe and Eurasian studies, was in his 3rd year of studying the Russian language at the time of the contest. Participants in his division were asked to write spontaneous essays, in Russian, in one hour, on their favorite place: fiction or non-fiction. King wrote about his trip to Tallinn, Estonia, last summer.  More than 1000 essays were entered overall in this year's contest with all essays reviewed by three judges from Russia.

Alex Maddox was brought back by LCHS Drama Teacher, Nathan West, to direct the play, “Noises Off,” in February 2009. Tha play had an all-star senior cast. He was, “…extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to direct at my alma mater.” He continues to pursue his degree in theatre at the University of Kentucky.

Brian Fister placed 13th overall in the Men’s Golf Ohio Valley Conference Championships and was named to the 2009-2009 All-OVC Newcomer Team.

Rachel Martino began selling Mark cosmetics in the fall semester of her freshman year and will be working for Mark as an online intern this summer in New York City.  Avon, the world leader in direct beauty selling, launched Mark in 2003 to reach a younger generation of young women entrepreneurs.  The national internship search was open to any Mark representative who was a full time college student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Hundreds of Mark representatives applied for the 12 coveted internships in 7 categories and applicants were required to submit their resume and a 500 word essay. She was one of only two freshman chosen.  Rachel will continue to sell Mark while attending Belmont University.

Mary Lou Clark Mitchell, 77, Versailles, a homemaker, mother and wife of the late Robert H. Mitchell, died peacefully in her home after a short illness on Oct 31, 2008. She was born in Toledo, OH, raised in Lexington, and attended the St. Catherine Academy High School and college at UK. At UK, she was a cheerleader under the teams coached by Bear Bryant and Adolph Rupp. She was a lifetime artist that enjoyed several art groups and programs. She was a charter member of the Mothers Study Club established in 1954. She was a member of the St. Leo's Church. She is survived by her children Michael (Eileen) Mitchell, Lexington, Matthew Deatherage (Mary) Mitchell, Versailles, Dianne (David) Glaser, Columbus, OH, and Martha (Jay) Seiler, Denton, TX; brother Pete (Carol) Clark, late sister Susan (Tony) Modica; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Carl Henry "Skip" Strippelhoff, 73,  former President and owner of Dixie Industrial Supply, Inc, Lexington, and husband of Judy "Schatze" Hayes Strippelhoff, died Thu, Dec 18, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. A native of Detroit and a Navy veteran, he was also a longtime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Bluegrass Amateur Radio Society, Greenbriar County Club member for over 30 years and Andover County Club member for 18 years. He was also a board member for the Children's Charity of the Bluegrass. Other survivors include 6 children: Chris (Karla) Strippelhoff, Marietta, GA; Danny (Karen) Strippelhoff, Georgetown; Michele (Carl) Jacobsen, Mena, AR; Lori (Jeff) Strippelhoff-Jones, Hendersonville, TN; Paul (Traci) Strippelhoff, Georgetown and Matt (Wendy) Strippelhoff, Bethel, OH; the mother of his children, Barbara Strippelhoff, Georgetown; 2 sisters, Carolyn Strippelhoff and Diane Keene, his mother in law, Marceleen Reed, 16 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Eugene Donnelly Thompson, 69, husband of Patricia Lush Thompson, died Tue, March 17, 2009 at his residence. Born in Lexington, he was retired from King Ranch and Middlebrook Farms and an Air Force veteran. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of Newman Center Holy Spirit Church and Knights of Columbus. Survivors other than his wife are a daughter, Stacey (Brian) Sindelar, Lexington; sons, Mark Donnelly (Cheryl) Thompson, Lexington, and Matthew Allen Thompson; 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vincent Ricci, 67, a native of Lexington, KY and a retired banker, died Dec 24, 2008, at his home. "Vince" was born Aug 15, 1941, in Lexington, KY to the late Vince and Ella Ricci. He attended Morehead State University and later graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He was a retiree from First Security National Bank and former co-owner of Precision Motor Cars. After moving to Pompano Beach, FL in 2003, he kept a summer home in Lexington. He enjoyed boating, motorcycling with the "Over the Hill Gang" and was also a Kentucky Admiral. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie R. Ricci; a daughter, Karen Ricci, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Cunniff. A special acknowledgement is extended to his cousin and confidante, Jim Ensminger.

Bruce "Mr. Bruce" Ledford, 66, husband of Brenda Brown Ledford for 46 years, died on June 17, 2009. He owned “Fresh Liquors” for 35 years and was in the funeral profession for 10 years.  He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and past director and vice-president of Lexington Jaycees, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a former member of Lexington and Mt. Sterling Flying Club. He stayed active boating, flying, camping, cooking, traveling, and learning about history. He also served at daily mass and was a mentor to many. He is survived by his wife; children, John Bruce (Cheryl) Ledford II, Leigh Ann (William) Collins, Stephen Ledford, and Malinda "Winnie" (Troy) Haungs; a sister, Mary Helen (Larry) Casey; mother, Anita Wahle Ledford; mother-in-law, Cordia Jones; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Evelyn Kissel; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Hospice of the Bluegrass, St. Peter's Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Paul Catholic Church Building Fund.

David Lee Shade, 65, of Lexington, husband of Tina Adams Shade, died Wed, July 1, 2009 at the St. Joseph Hospital. He was the son of the late James Edward and Helen Miller Shade. He was a retired police officer with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and was a member of the F.O.P. Other survivors include his children, Tender (Scott) Lee Shade and Terra (Keith) Shade; sister, Maureen Shade Reader; brother, James P. Shade; 2 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, several other family members, and a special friend, Donald S. Lee.

Dr. Mary Anne McCarty-Mayor, died October 18, 2008, in Toronto, Ontario.  She is survived by her cherished husband, James Edwin Mayor, sisters Maude Elizabeth McCarty and Theresa Norton McCarty (James Williams), sister-in-law Mary Sarah Mayor, several nieces and nephews, and many other beloved relatives and special friends. Mary Anne graduated from Villa Madonna (now Thomas More) College in Covington. She studied at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Toronto's St. Michael's College, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution through her father’s line, her professional career was spent as a Psychologist with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, where she helped countless children.  For the past 25 years, Mary Anne was a member of the Annex Singers, where she made many valued friends and where her beautiful soprano voice will not be forgotten. In 1994 Mary Anne was diagnosed with a brain tumor which, after surgery, left her with few symptoms, and she continued to lead a normal life. In 2005 her health began to suffer, and she underwent additional treatments until these could no longer help her. In September Mary Anne entered palliative care, where she inspired so many anew with her characteristic loveliness and bravery. On October 18, surrounded by her family, Mary Anne passed away.

Patricia (Trish) Sullivan Hart, 58, passed away Sat, May 2, 2009, at the Markey Cancer Center surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lewis (Bob) R. Hart, III; son, Joshua Hart; daughter, Kelly (Josh) Esenbock; father, Jere E. Sullivan and sister, Ann Sullivan. Trish was born in Lexington, Kentucky and was the daughter of Jere E. Sullivan and the late Virginia Johnson Sullivan. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King. Trish worked at Bumblebee Marketing Service and had a loving, caring and generous spirit that will be missed by many. Trish enjoyed watching her children play soccer, bowling, tailgating and spending time with family and friends. Contributions are suggested to the Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, KY.

Katharine Considine Foley, 56, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family on July 11, 2009. Kathy is the cherished wife of Bill Foley of Lexington and the devoted mother of Conor Foley of Lexington and Patrick Foley of Minneapolis, MN. She is the beloved daughter of Jack and Benita Considine of Lexington. Kathy is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Maureen Considine of Olympia, WA; Bunny (John) Lancaster of Lexington; John (Kellie) Considine of Lexington; Dan (Brenda) Considine of Winchester, and several nieces and nephews. Kathy worked as an Employment Trainer for the Fayette County Schools. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Lexington Catholic High School, 2250 Clays Mill Rd., Lexington, KY 40503.

Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Mitchell, 48, daughter of the late Robert B. Mitchell and Mary Ann Hutchison Mitchell, died on Mar 17, 2009. She practiced nursing at UK for over 20 years and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. She is survived by her children, JT (Tricia) Mitchell, Richmond, Chris Tutt, Tampa, Fl., and Emily Tutt, Conway, SC; siblings, Robert B. (Mary Kay) Mitchell, Jr. and Patricia M. (Don) Trail, Lexington, KY; 3 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorials to Seton Catholic School, 1740 Summerhill Dr, Lexington, KY, 40505.

Stephen Michael McDaniel, 39, died on Oct 30, 2008. He is survived by his parents, John and Mary McDaniel; sons, Tanner Michael and Jacob Louis McDaniel; a sister, Karen Bradshaw; former wife, Michelle Slaughter; and two nephews.

John Cravens Porter, 28, died Wed, Jan 21, 2009 in TX. Born in Lexington, he was a son of J. David and Beth Ann Bunzendahl Porter, Lexington. He was a member of the LCHS soccer team, a member of the Blue Grass Hockey Association, attended Western Kentucky University, and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Survivors other than his parents are a brother, Joseph W. Porter, Lexington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeffrey Chase Campbell, 21, of Lexington, died Feb 13, 2009. Born in South Williamson, KY, he was the son of Jeffrey David Campbell and Vanessa Smith Cooper. He was attending EKU. Survivors other than his parents include two brothers, David Seth Campbell and Izaiah Campbell; paternal grandparents, David (Darlene) Campbell; maternal grandparents, Jeff (Verna) Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Melanie McDougall Seaman is the president of the New Jersey School Counselor Association for 2008-2009. Her husband, Bob, is teaching 4th grade CCD and is Vice President of the Incarnation-St. James Parish's Rosary Altar Society. Her son, Matthew, was married to his wife, Megan, in the spring of 2008. They live in Charlotte, NC, where Matthew works for Microsoft.

Susan Gravatte Lancho is married to Jorge "George" Lancho and resides in Lexington.  Susan is an internal communications manager for American Water, parent company of Kentucky American Water. Susan and Jorge have two sons, Evan, 7, who attends Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary School, and Joseph, who will be 2 years old in December.

 Melissa Estes Blair received her Ph.D. in American history from the University of Virginia in August, 2008, and is now teaching U.S. history at the University of Georgia.  Melissa and her husband, Ross, got married at Christ the King in June 2007.

Angie Beavin was ESPNU's sideline commentator during coverage of the UK-Arkansas football game on Saturday, October 18, 2008.  She was their "Kentucky connection."  Angie interviewed the Homecoming King and Queen and did a piece on Keeneland during the game.

Ben Revere, 2007 Mr. Baseball, had an outstanding performance in Class A baseball for the Minnesota Twins, hitting .400 or better most of the season.

John Meikel and Lin Millett, both class of '08, were one of only five high-performing, recent Fayette County high school graduates that were presented with the first annual Best in the Bluegrass scholarships. Along with a $1,000 scholarship from the Lexington Rotary, they were given a 4-6 week internship (John with the Lexington Legends and Lin with Central Baptist Hospital).  John Meikel attends Washington University in St. Louis and Lin Millet attends The University of Notre Dame.

Lee Richardson, former captain of the LCHS Ultimate Frisbee team, made Team USA as the only representative from Kentucky. Lee caught the pass for the first point at the World Championships against Great Britain.

John W Quinn, age 62, husband of Mary Joe (Taylor) Quinn ('68) died Wed, Aug 13, 2008. John was born in Portsmouth, VA in 1946. John was a member of Christ the King Cathedral and was a signature member of the Kentucky Watercolor Society. John was preceded in death by his loving mother, Kathleen "Franny" Quinn.  In addition to his wife, John is survived by four daughters, Rebecca)('95), (Mrs. Allan Bernotas, Hunter('97)(engaged to Michael Baer( '97)), Christian (2000) (Mrs. Gennaro Galtieri), and Patty (2005).  John has two grandsons, Xavier McFadden and Quinn Bernotas, and a step-granddaughter, Madeline Galtieri.  John is also survived by two brothers, Michael and Patrick Quinn ('67).

Donna Walsh passed away on September 1, 2008, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  Donna is survived by her parents, Michael and Sheila Walsh, her daughters Alayna Harber and Kourtney Kurps, her brother, Michael ('81) H. Walsh (Amy), her aunts, Maureen Walsh and Joan Hefferman, and her uncle, Kevin Walsh.

Karen (Casey) Rollins is married to Jeff Rollins and they live in Lafayette, IN.  Karen works in Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University.  Jeff works for the Department of Agricultural Communications as an Exhibit Specialist at Purdue University.  They have two sons (pictured below), Conlon Fitzgerald, twelve years old, and Samuel Burnam, who turned one in July.

Hanna Fister Norvell and her husband, Roby Norvell, welcomed their daughter, Ellen Irene, on February 10, 2008.  Ellen and her big brothers, Benjamin and Levi, keep Hanna and Roby busy and entertained.  The Norvells live in Houston, TX, where Hanna is a partner with the national law firm of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP in the labor and employment practice group.

Derek Van Daniker has been officially called by Bishop Dominique Rey to be ordained a deacon on June 29, 2008, on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.  The ordination mass will take place in Toulon, France, at the seminary which he is currently attending.  "We will be 8 for the diaconate (this includes the 2 brothers of my community) and 2 for the priesthood. The plans are that after a 2 months stay this summer in the US (mid-July to mid-Sept) I will return here to France to live at our new place of hermitage, St. Probace, and so begin studying towards a licentiate in Theology from an Institute not too far away. God willing, I will be subsequently ordained a priest in a year (June 2009) here in Toulon, France." Please keep Derek (Br. Thomas) in your prayers and his family as well, as they travel to celebrate this very special occasion.

John Ashford and his wife, Jennifer, have been working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the last year, they have searched God's heart for their next step and this fall they will be joining an incredible international, interdenominational Christian missions organization called Operation Mobilization.  OM current supports 5,400 missionaries in over 110 countries. The ship ministry began in 1970 and in September John and Jennifer will be joining the newest ship in the fleet, the Logos Hope.  They will join an international crew of 500 people from over 50 nations.  If you would like to contact John or Jennifer, their e-mails are

Leonard Garland Gallagher, 79, a lifelong resident of Lexington, died on June 1, 2008. He was the son of the late Reid and Margaret Sculley Gallagher and also preceded in death by his brothers, John, Gene, James, and Thomas Gallagher. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the 44th Engineer Batallion and a member of the Air Force Naval Reserve. He was also a lifetime member and quarter master in the Leestown VFW Post 680 and member of the Lexington American Legion Post #8. He is survived by his loving friend of many years, Helen Sisk, and her family, and a nephew, Michael Gallagher, both of Lexington.

Noreen Howard Weber passed away on July 21, 2008. She was the wife of Charles "Fred" Weber and the daughter of the late Norine Heafey Howard and Julian Howard Sr. She is survived by a son, Charles Weber III (Carolyn), two grandsons, two sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews. She was a charter member of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

Frank E McFadden, 70, widower of Sally Scully McFadden, died March 4, 2008.  He was born in Lexington, son of the late John G. and Mary Katherine McCelhone McFadden.  He retired from IBM and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, life member of Blue Grass Sportsmen's League, and The League of Kentucky Sportsmen. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Other surviving family includes a son and daughter, Patrick (Penny) McFadden and Lisa McFadden, four brothers, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe McFadden.

Deborah Westerfield Paull died from cancer on March 19, 2008, at Vanderbilt and was living in Clinton, Tennessee. She was a nine and a half year veteran of the Air Force and was a Staff Sergeant.  She is survived by her husband, Daniel R., and her father, E. L. Les Westerfield.

Sherrie Ledbetter Yessin is a homeschooling mom of 2 girls: Holly, 9, and Sally Anne, 7. She is married to Mike Yessin and they recently opened a new business in Lexington, the "Lexington Seafood Co."  It is located @ 867 East High St. in Chevy Chase; behind the "Saltbox" and across the street from Shoppers Village Liquors. Phillip Ferguson was named Chief of Police in Duck, North Carolina.  A ceremony was held December 21st at the Duck Public Safety Building and was attended by members of the Town Council along with friends and family. Town Manager Layton administered the Oath of Office to Chief Ferguson and his wife, Sandy Ferguson, and pinned the new badge on while his daughter, Piper, and his mother, Anita Ferguson, looked on. Chief Ferguson has been with the Department since its inception being the first Police Officer hired by the Town in April 2003. 
In addition to his new role as Chief of Police, Chief Ferguson makes up half of the Town of Duck Police Department's Bloodhound Tracking Team with his popular bloodhound "Morse".  Photo submitted by: Phillip Ferguson.

Brian Hale has recently joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC (FBIHQ). Currently, he is working in the Office of Public Affairs, Executive Communications, Director's Division. Prior to joining the FBI, Brian served as Press Relations Manager for Patton Boggs LLP a leading national lobbying firm from 4/2003 until 10/2007; and as a Field Producer for ABC News 20/20 in New York and Washington DC from 9/96 until 4/03.Brian lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife Lara Oerter and two children Josie (2 yrs old) and Nathaniel (11 months).

Harrison Morton is a standout basketball player at Northern Kentucky University.  He scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds as NKU won its second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division championship with an 88-78 victory at Lewis on Saturday, March 1st.  He currently leads the team in scoring and steals.

Mary Buncher is among 80 University of Kentucky students who were chosen to participate in the University of Kentucky's Leadership Summit. The University Leadership Summit is a prestigious year long program. Students attend by invitation only and must be nominated by University of Kentucky faculty or staff. The Summit includes a weekend retreat and monthly summit meetings coordinated through the Office of Student Involvement.  Through the program, students attend topical leadership forums and work toward the completion of campus-wide leadership projects.  The goal is to help unify the University of Kentucky campus and campus leaders. Only 100 out of 24,000 students are chosen to be invited to participate in the Summit.

Judith G. Begley passed away on October 26, 2007, at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center.  She lived in Lancaster, Kentucky, most of her life where she retired as a registered nurse with the Garrard County Health Department. Her faith was very important to her throughout her life. She was an active member of the St. Williams Catholic Church, especially in the Altar Society and the Bible study program. She has been dubbed Christian Appalachian Project's 1st volunteer by founder, Fr. Ralph Beiting. Survivors include her loving husband, Bill, daughter, Kate, son, Will, brother, Mike, sister, Pat, and six grandchildren.

McFadden passed away on March 4, 2008, at the age of 70.  He lived in Lexington and retired from IBM.  He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, a life-member of Blue Grass Sportsmen's League and The League of Kentucky Sportsmen. Kevin Bruggeman was the Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Line coach for the Lexington Horsemen Indoor Football team.  The Horsemen won the Eastern Conference championship (67-49) over Bloomington Extreme. They were runners up in United Bowl III to Sioux Falls Storm (62-59). Kevin currently teaches Health and is the Special Teams Coordinator and a defensive coach at Lexington Catholic.

Ensign Neal Banta is training as a naval aviator in Pensacola, Florida.  As a former Second Class Aviation Electronics Technician, he was assigned to naval air stations in Pensacola; Sigonella, Sicily, Italy; and San Diego, California.  When he was an avionics instructor at NAS North Island, San Diego, he was selected for participation in the Seaman to Admiral-21 program as an officer candidate.  He graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in political science.  Neal has been in the Navy since November, 1997, and was married in August 2006.  His wife, Tara, is a nurse and they are expecting their first child, a daughter, in November.

George Dotson, of Jacksonville, FL, died Aug 28, 2007 at the age of 80, following a lengthy illness. A Lexington native he has lived in Jacksonville for the past 38 years. He was born Nov 11, 1926, the son of the late George Dotson and Emma Stewart Dotson Hicks and was also predeceased by his stepfather Alyn Hicks. He was a graduate of the Lexington Latin School and attended the University of Kentucky. A World War II veteran, Mr. Dotson retired from the Greyhound Corporation as Regional Manager after 45 years of service. He was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Knight of Columbus Bishop Kenny Council. He enjoyed cheering on his Kentucky Wildcats amid a sea of Gators. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Dotson, two sons, James Philip Dotson, George Thomas Dotson (Charlotte) and a daughter, Cheryl Roth (Ed) and four grandchildren, A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Prince Of Peace Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Graveside services in Lexington at Calvary Cemetery were on Tuesday, September 4.

John B. Jeter. Sr, 79, of Lexington, died April 24, 2007, at the V.A. Medical Center.  He was born in Lexington to the late W. A. and Thelma Harnett Jeter, a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, past president of UK Troopers, past president of Toastmasters International, former deputy sheriff of Fayette County, and a golf pro in Hollywood, FL. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, papaw, and friend. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years Mary C. "Dottie" Mullins Jeter, Class of '55, his 12 children and 31 grandchildren. The funeral was held at Pax Christi Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Christopher Jeter memorial fund, care of Community Trust Bank.

Malcolm Brown Saunier, CPA, 76, husband of Mary H. Saunier, died Thu, Oct 4, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Stanley Milward and Mary Loretta Brown Saunier. Mr. Saunier was an Air Force Korean War veteran and the founder, owner, and operator of Malcolm B. Saunier and Company CPA Firm for forty years. He was a graduate of the Lexington Latin School and the University of Kentucky, and attended Xavier University. Immediate family survivors other than his wife include a son, W. Malcolm Saunier, Lexington, KY; four daughters, Melissa (John) Arnold, Amanda (Gary) Logsdon, Louisa (Jack) Beckman, and Tiffany (Eric) Hurley; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Cathedral of Christ the King. David M. Mudd, 71 years old, died on July 10, 2007, from lung cancer.  He is survived by his wife, Cora, 4 children, 6 grandchildren (a set of triplets!) and 1 great grandchild.  David is responsible for his Class of '54 class picture hanging in the Lexington Catholic hallway.

David Russell Connors died September 18, 2006, at his home in Cary, NC. He was employed with IBM for 42 years and was also a referee and umpire for the Cary Recreation Department for fifteen years. Dave was an avid runner who had run marathons for ten years and at the time of his passing, was training for the Dublin Marathon. Dave loved life and people and had many friends in Lexington, Colorado, and North Carolina. He is missed by all who knew him. Immediate family survivors are his wife, Diane Payne Connors, son Jeff Connors (Cathy) and daughters, Krista Connors and Tracy Connors.

Danutia Wysocki, 52 years old, died from a pulmonary embolism after knee surgery on June 21, 2007.  She is survived by her husband, Dale Parsons and her 16 year old daughter, Kazia Parsons.

Celia C. Miracle, a bookkeeper for the Woodford County Board of Education for the past 12 years, wife of Luke A. Miracle, died Wed, Aug 8. She was 49. Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Hugh J. and Anne Newton Cramer and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Caitlin Miracle, and a son, J. Allan Miracle, both of Versailles.

Sister Cecilia Clare Spalding, SCN, 95, native of Slidell, LA, died on Wed, Aug 8, 2007 at the Motherhouse, Nazareth, KY. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for almost 77 years. Sister celebrated the 75th anniversary of her religious profession on March 25, 2007. Sister served in the postulate of education as a music teacher on the elementary, secondary and college levels in Kentucky, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Ohio and Maryland. Her longest assignment was at Lexington (KY) Catholic High School, where she taught from 1942-1959.

Jim Horine, Class of '59, retired from full-time teaching and as golf coach in May 2007.  Jim played baseball and basketball for the Knights in the late 1950's.  After 29 years in sales and marketing, he had a second career as a teacher and coach at Lexington Catholic.  He led the boys' golf team to the state tournament the last three years.

Leslie Paige Henry Spencer, Class of '95, graduated with honors in May '07 from Texas State University with a degree in Radiology Therapy (BSRT), Magna Cum Laude.  In addition, Leslie was recognized by her College as one of the top two graduates in her class and won a national competition for a publication that became the lead article in her professional journal. Leslie and her husband, John, live at Barton Creek Lakeshore in Austin, TX with their two sons, Mason Henry (3) and John McCord (1). They are expecting their third child later this year. Jeanna and Anna Heink, Class of ’05, have become quite successful on their University of Dayton rowing team.  Their boat, The Lightweight 8, won the Atlantic 10 Conference championship in April at the finals in New Jersey.  And in May, Jeanna was named to the 2007 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference rowing team. In Memoriam

Robert L. “Bob” Osbourn, passed away Wednesday, May 2, at the age of 46. He spent many hours volunteering at Lexington Catholic as a past Chairman of the Board, Chair of the Communications Committee and as an involved parent to his oldest son, Robert (class of 2010). Bob was the principal broker for Milestone Real Estate Consultants as well as chairman of the Realtors Community Housing Foundation. He spent much of his free time volunteering for community organizations. Bob was a devoted husband and father to his wife, Diane, and their four children: Robert, Rosemary, Caroline and Joseph.

Charles Noel Williams, Class of '52, passed away in Florida at his home on May 22, 2005.

Barbara Louise Kragel Thompson, Class of '69, from Hendersonville died May 11, 2007.  She was the front desk secretary at Indian Lake Elementary School for the past 19 years.  She is survived by her husband, MG Stephen B.Thompson, a son, daughter, grandchildren, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and her parents, Charles and Audrey Kragel, of Lexington.

Tom Ziegler, Class of '69, passed away in Tennessee in February, 2007.  Tom was a National Merit Semifinalist and was honored with the Outstanding Teenager of America Award for outstanding ability, accomplishment, and service from the Outstanding Americans Foundation while attending LCHS.  Tom is survived by his 5 children, several grandchildren, his father, Vernon Ziegler and brother, Rick.
